The project was for the construction of a 2260 ft building consisting of an educational interactive area, a classroom for the use of schools and the general public and a tea room with a small kitchen supplying local produce.

The project will extend the visitor season as the barn will enable the Farm Park to remain open to the public during the winter months.

Mr Doodle Doo was there to oversee the official opening of the new Interactive Barn.

Mike Kennan, the manager of Matlock Farm Park said “The new interactive barn is a fantastic addition to what we currently offer our visitors. We have already had enquiries from schools to use the barn if the weather gets wet or cold. Without the grant funding we received from LEADER, we simply could not have built the barn. I’m delighted we now have the barn which has meant we have been able to employ another 3 people and will encourage many more people to visit us”

Councillor Ken Savidge, Chair of the BNED LEADER Local Action Group said "The new barn and classroom will be a great asset to Matlock Farm Park which is already a popular attraction in the area. Not only will the barn attract more visitors, it has resulted in new jobs being created which is excellent news. I wish Mike and his team the very best for the future."
