How to Apply

If you think your project idea fits within the BNED LEADER Approach please before completing an Outline Application Form. The Programme Officer will discuss your project idea with you and assess whether it fits within the BNED LEADER Approach. The Programme Officer will also go through the application process and will explain what is required of you.

 Application Process:

  • If, following initial discussions with the Programme Officer, it appears that your project fits within the BNED LEADER Approach, the Programme Officer will request that you complete an Expression of Interest (EOI) Form. This form is the first stage of the application process which will give an overview of your project idea. The Programme Officer will be happy to help advise on how to complete the form.
  • You can access the EOI Form, Guidance and the Applicant Handbook by downloading the attachments below.
  • Once the LEADER Team has received the completed Outline Application in electronic format they have 10 working days to assess the project and contact you with a decision.
  • If the EOI is approved, the Programme Officer will contact you and provide the Full Application Form.  Assistance with completing this form can be providing by the LEADER Team if needed. You can also obtain help from the Business Advisors at the .
  • You must also have an SBI (Single Business Identifier) number from the Rural Payments Agency (RPA). If you don't already have one of these, you must register with the RPA.  Follow this link to apply: https://www.gov.uk/claim-rural-payments
  • You will be given a deadline of three calendar months to return the completed Full Application along with supporting documents and quotations for project expenditure.
  • Once the LEADER Team receive the completed Full Application in both electronic format and as a signed hard copy (together with all relevant supporting information), they have 40 working days to assess the2 project.
  • The application is assessed by an independent appraiser and sent to BNED Local Action Group (LAG) to approve.
  • When approved, a contract is drawn up and once signed by the accountable body and the applicant, work can commence.
