The Bolsover North East Derbyshire LEADER approach has been awarded £2.4 million from the Rural Development Programme for England, until 2013 to improve the rural economies of the area, for Bolsover and North East Derbyshire (excluding Dronfield and Gosforth Valley Wards due to population restrictions). Grant funding is available for Farmers and Micro-Enterprises up to 50%. From 1st January 2010, grants for more than 50% are available in exceptional circumstances and subject to clear evidence of need. The state aid allowance that applicants can now apply for has risen to €500,000 The LEADER Approach Funding will be channelled into five main themes: Diversification into Non-Agricultural ActivitiesImproving the economic viability of land based businesses through support for diversification projects into non-agricultural activities (applicants must be members of a farming household). Support Creation & Development of Micro-enterprisesSupport for enterprises based in the rural area to start up or for existing enterprises to grow (businesses employing less than 10 workers and a turnover of less than 2m euros - approx £1.67m). Encouragement of Tourism ActivitiesTo raise the profile of the area and to ensure it is attractive for residents, businesses and visitors by providing high quality recreational and tourism enterprises. Training & InformationTraining needs to benefit the other four measures and complement existing training and skills programmes. Conservation & Upgrading of Rural HeritageThe objective is to raise the profile and local pride of the area by developing opportunities through the area's green infrastructure, natural environment and heritage.
