Local Action Group (LAG) Members
Membership of the LAG has been developed to meet the needs of the area. The NFU represents the main land users of farming and forestry. DALC and DRCC have community links through parish council and village hall networks, and other local contacts. The National Trust not only is a major property owner; but it also plays an important tourism and heritage role and has links into a number of communities. The Tourism Forum is a private sector organisation for tourism businesses in the area, whilst the Derbyshire Nottingham shire Chamber of Commerce and Lilleker & King represent business interests more widely. English Heritage, which owns two properties in the area, has a heritage and tourism role, whilst Visit Peak District and Derbyshire is the tourism promotion agency for the area.
North Eastern Derbyshire Business Development Ltd (NEDBD) is the Accountable Body. The two district councils and the county council are also represented on the LAG. Thus, it is considered that there is a good balance of interests, with the private sector providing ten representatives to the public sector’s five. The bid was endorsed by all members of the LAG
The Chair of the LAG is Councillor Ken Savidge who represents North East Derbyshire District Council; the Vice Chair is Joe Dugdale of Derbyshire Rural Community Council. The LAG will normally meet five times a year with overall responsibility for managing and delivering the Programme. Working groups will be established as and when necessary.
