About the BNED LEADER Approach

The Bolsover North East Derbyshire LEADER approach has been awarded £2,194,000 (reduced from £2,376,000) from the Rural Development Programme for England, until 2013 to improve the rural economies of the area, for Bolsover and North East Derbyshire (excluding Dronfield and Gosforth Valley Wards due to population restrictions).

Grant funding is available for Farmers and Micro-Enterprises up to 50%.  From 1st January 2010, grants for more than 50% are available in exceptional circumstances and subject to clear evidence of need.

The current maximum state aid allowance that applicants can apply for is €200,000 in a three year period.

The LEADER Approach Funding will be channelled into five main themes:

A picture of a farmer moving hay.

Improving the economic viability of land based businesses through support for diversification projects into non-agricultural activities (applicants must be members of a farming household).

A Unit at Coney Green Business Centre.

Support for enterprises based in the rural area to start up or for existing enterprises to grow (businesses employing less than 10 workers and a turnover of less than 2m euros - approximately £1.67m).

The garden at Bolsover Castle.

To raise the profile of the area and to ensure it is attractive for residents, businesses and visitors by providing high quality recreational and tourism enterprises.

A training session at Shirebrook Business Park.

Training needs to benefit the other four measures and complement existing training and skills programmes.

Hardwick Old Hall.

The objective is to raise the profile and local pride of the area by developing opportunities through the area's green infrastructure, natural environment and heritage.
